Susan “Susie” E. Hoover, 77, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born in Williamsport on February 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George Vernon and Helen Roberta (Hufnagle) Hoover.

She was a graduate of Williamsport High School. She attended Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing, and earned her LPN. Later, she completed her RN studies at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. Susie was a long time resident of Annapolis, Maryland, where she practiced nursing for most of her career. After retirement in 2015, she moved to Bellefonte, to be close to family.

She is survived by her brother, Gary V. Hoover and sister-in-law, Susan B. Hoover, of Bellefonte. Also surviving are her nephews, Joshua Sawyer, of Lititz, PA, and Luke Keller, of Bellefonte, niece, Rachel Flannigan, of Washington, D.C., and cousins: Elizabeth Ann Lutz and Lisa Charles, of Turbotville, PA, and additional cousins on the Hoover and Hufnagle sides of the family.

Susan was predeceased by both parents and a sister, Carole A. Trainer.

Susie enjoyed cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, traveling by car and spending time with her cats. She attended St. John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte. She often did community service and volunteer work, especially with the Optimist Club of Annapolis, and, more recently, with the Centre Crest Auxiliary.

Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susie’s memory to Centre Crest Auxiliary at 502 E. Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
