Sherry I. Long, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born in Millheim on July 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Clara (Decker) Fryer. She was married to her beloved husband, George A. Long, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2005.

Sherry worked for Murata Erie for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by her four children, Judy E. Bartley of Jacksonville, Carol A. Reed (James) of Milesburg, Walter A. Long and Dorothy I. Long, both of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Walter Fryer and George Fryer, and one sister, Nancy Lucabaugh.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Irene M. Long, and four siblings, Junior, John, Grace, and Shirley.

Sherry was a member of Freedom Life Church in Milesburg. She enjoyed reading, attending church, and spending time with her family. She especially loved being apart of the Widows of Wonders and the Women’s Ministry.

There will be a graveside service held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 12pm, at Advent Cemetery in Milesburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sherry’s memory to Freedom Life Church at 113 Sunset Acres, Bellefonte, PA 16823.

It was always nice to talk to Sherry when I delivered her mail. She was a great lady and will be missed by many!!
