Obituary

Mary (Mae) J. O’Neill, 92, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2019, after a lifetime of deep Catholic faith. Born in Osceola Mills, on May 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Magensky) Bagrosky. On July 1, 1950, in Osceola Mills, she married her beloved husband, James A. O’Neill, who preceded her in death in April 1985, after sharing 34 years of marriage together.

Mae was a graduate of Osceola Mills High School. She went on to graduate from Philipsburg School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years until her retirement from Centre Crest in 1991.

Mae is survived by her five children, James A. O’Neill, Jr., of Bellefonte, David G. O’Neill (Kathy), of Bellefonte, Daniel M. O’Neill (Vickie), of Germantown, WI, Mary Ann Shultz (Frank), of Bellefonte, and Amy Kyle (Jim), of Bellefonte. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edwina O’Neill and Leona Irvin, and two brothers, Al Bagrosky and Dave Bagrosky. She was the last of her generation.

There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Immediately follow the viewing, there will be a wake service at 8pm at the funeral home with Father George Jakopac officiating. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mae’s memory to St. John’s Catholic School at 116 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823 or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
