Robert Lee Laird, Sr., 69, of Port Matilda, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at home. Born on September 22, 1948, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas Sr. and Jeanette Clara Emeigh Laird. On January 27, 1968, he married Linda Sue Frantz, who survives at home.
He was an avid hunter, NASCAR fan and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was employed by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. for 43 years until his retirement in 2010, as a truck driver and then a paver operator, which lead him to travel and pave countless roads all over Pennsylvania. He also holds claim to be the first truck driver to drive a tri-axle dump truck for GOH, Inc.
Robert along with his wife, is survived by his three children, Amy Smith (Jim); Christine Warner (Cory); and Brett Laird (Rebekah) all of Port Matilda and one grandson, Garett Warner. He is also survived by one sister, Dot Thomas of Lebanon and one brother, Jim Laird of Warriors Mark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Bobby” Lee Laird Jr., three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., of Bellefonte.
