Russell E. Emel, 61, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born on June 24, 1956, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Martha J. (Reed) Emel.
Russell was a 1974 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked as a welder and mechanic for Graymont several years. Recently, Russell had worked as a baker at Irving’s Bagels.
He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Shutt (Billy) of Mill Hall, Brenda Nilson (Melvin) of Mill Hall, and Rebecca Smith (Joseph) of State College; seven grandchildren: Selena, Elizabeth, Joshua, Samantha, Austin, Rachael, and Matthew; and one great-grandchild, Arrowdesia. Also surviving are two sisters, Barb Bechdel (Ron) of Chambersburg and Connie Port (Charles) of Bellefonte.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Marty and Brenda Jean.
Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing and going camping and motorcycles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2 PM at 654 Zion Back Road, Bellefonte. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a cancer research foundation of the donor’s choice.
