Lois H. King, 87, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at home surrounded by family. Born in Bellefonte, on August 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Grace (Smoyer) Boob. On January 4, 1951, in Bellefonte, she married her beloved husband, Ronald V. King. In 1958, they were blessed with their son, Charles. Ronald survives at home after sharing 68 years of marriage together.
Lois attended Bellefonte High School. She was a drum majorette for three years while attending Bellefonte High School. She dedicated her life to raising her family and providing a wonderful home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one grandchild, Jacqueline Golas (Ryan), of Bellefonte, and one great-grandchild, Reigan Golas, of Bellefonte. Also surviving is one sister, Alene Ranio, of Milesburg, daughter-in-law, Jenny Watson, of Bellefonte, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Charles R. King, on May 30, 2016; on that day, she lost a piece of her heart that could never be mended. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Darel Boob.
Lois was a life member of Valley View United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, where spent many years teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She enjoyed bowling, shopping, and dining out. She especially loved to travel, specifically to Stone Harbor, NJ and to Florida to visit her granddaughter. She took a great deal of pride in her home and her abilities to care for her family. The memories that were created with “Gram” will forever be treasured.
There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from 11am-12pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12pm at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Ludrowsky officiating. Burial will follow at Meyer Cemetery in Bellefonte.
