Evelyn J. Stover Tupper, 95, of Milesburg, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at home. Born on July 26, 1922, in Parvin, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Bitner) Knecht. On November 19, 1943, she married her husband, Eugene H. Stover, who preceded her in death in 1972, after 29 years of marriage.
Evelyn was a 1940 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She then went on to work as a physical therapy aide at the former Centre County Hospital where she worked 25 full years and 7 part time years before retiring in 1991.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Roxie Jean Ishler of Milesburg, and Rebecca Smith (Kenneth) of Quehanna. Also surviving is one sister, Isabel Eisenhauer of Bufflao,NY, five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, Candace Nickischer, Roger Myers, and one great grandchild, Josh Wilson.
Evelyn was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte. She enjoyed gambling, going to casinos and playing games. She was the best pie maker in the county.
There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 11am until 12noon, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St. Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at 12pm, at the funeral home with Pastor Diane Kinley officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to St. John’s United Church of Christ at 145 W. Linn Street Bellefonte, PA 16823.
