Obituary for Allen Williams

Allen Stewart Williams of Bellefonte, PA met his Savior on Wednesday June 6, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington, IN. Born on October 4, 1923, in Dix Run, he was the son of the late Kenzie A. and Margaret Summers Williams. On May 12, 1951 he married Martha Parsons, who preceded him in death. Stewart was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bellefonte, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Stewart attended Bellefonte High School. He was employed by Cerro Metal Products having worked in the forge department for 43 years, retiring in 1987.

Stewart loved hunting, and gardening and was known for helping others with his carpentry, mechanical, plumbing and electrical skills. At Heritage Pointe he was known and loved for entertaining others with his harmonica, his singing and carving hundreds of wooden plyers. Stewart was known there as “the music man.”

Stewart faithfully served in World War II in the European Theatre of Operation (ETO), as a Rifleman in Company “B”, 264th Infantry, 66th Black Panther Division. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, World War II Victory Medal, ETO Campaign Medal with two Battle Stars, Two Good Conduct Medals, Army of Occupation Medal and The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service above and beyond the call of duty.

Stewart is survived by one son, Dennis (Annette) Allen Williams of Tucson, AZ and one daughter Debra (Jerry) Williams Davis of Huntington, IN. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Renee Gutierrez, Jenelle Edwards, Jasmine Sullivan, Jesse Davis and Patrick Davis, and twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Williams, and a sister Mary Williams Shope.

There will be a public viewing held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 3-6pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10am with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Julian, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 539 Jacksonville Rd., Bellefonte, PA.
