Willis N. Spicer, 84, of Howard, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born in Bellefonte, on September 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Toner and Edith (Hoover) Spicer. He was married to his beloved wife, Shirley (Shuey) Spicer, who preceded him in death in 2012.
Willis served in the United States Army from 1953-1956. Before being honorably discharged, he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Willis worked as a Limestone Miner for more than 20 years until retiring from Warner Company.
Willis is survived by one daughter, Lesa King (David) of Howard, and one son, Robert Spicer (Nancy) of Castanea; one brother, Harold Spicer, of Howard; five grandchildren, Todd Ciancarelli, Joseph Ciancarelli, Michael Ciancarelli, Drew King, and Davis King; and three great-grandchildren, Connor Gunter, Ava Ciancarelli, and Easton King.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Todd Spicer, as well as 15 siblings.
Willis enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, being outside, and spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Cody.
There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10am with Rev. Kathleen Danley officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
