Janora Grove Plumb died peacefully on May 5th at the Oaks in Pleasant Gap.
She was born on Christmas Day 1922 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Elvin and Myrtle Grove. She attended high school in Newton, then Bethel College and Kansas State University, graduating with a degree in Home Economics. She was a lifetime member of Chi Omega Sorority.
She married Edward (Ned) Leroy Plumb on January 3, 1947 in Newton, Kansas, and moved to Bellefonte the same year. Ned died in June of 2017, after 70 years of marriage. Janora was integral to the success of the iconic Plumb’s Drug Store and the Card and Party Shop and served for many years on the Board of Centre Crest. She was active in the Presbyterian Church. Following Ned’s retirement, he and Janora traveled extensively with their many friends – to Russia, Egypt, Norway, and Alaska, among other places. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and gardener, and lover of classical and operatic music.
