Obituary for Lezetta H. Kutches
Lezetta H. Kutches, 99, of Bellefonte, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Lezetta “Grams” departed peacefully for her heavenly home. Born on October 6, 1918, in Montvale, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George K. and Lezetta (Strong) Huntington. She married Stephen Anthony Kutches, who preceded her in death.
A native of New Jersey, Lezetta received her RN Degree from Hackensack Hospital. She began her nursing career in the maternity ward. Later in her career, Lezetta retired from nursing as a Charge Nurse at Centre Crest.
She is survived by two daughters; Lezetta (Bonnie) Adair, Sharon Kalajainen (Dan Eckenrode), three sons; Stephen G. Kutches, David A. Kutches (Melissa Letterman) and Paul H. Kutches (Nancy). In addition to her children she is survived by three grandchildren; Jason R. Kalajainen, Garret A. Kutches, and Stephen T. Kutches.
Her life was always filled with music. During her high school years, she played the trombone in the marching band. On the piano, she played classical music as well as popular tunes of the day.
Gardening was another one of her favorite activities. Lezetta enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers and maintaining her flower beds. She loved visits from her family and many friends who were always greeted with a warm smile and freshly baked cookies from her counter cookie jar. Lezetta was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joanne.
There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 6-8pm with a vigil service officiated by Deacon Tom Boldin. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
