Tammy M. Chaffee, 54, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Monday, February 19, 2018. Born on April 12, 1963, in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna (McClelland) Klindienst. On April 12, 1991, she married her beloved husband, Peter Chaffee, who survives her at home.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and then went on to attend Penn State where she was an English major and earned her bachelor’s degree. Tammy worked for many years a manager at McDonald’s. More recently, she was working as a customer service representative for Bed Bath & Beyond.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Dietrich Oakley Chaffee, of Bellefonte. Also surviving is one sister, Sarah Jo Shinsky (Bradley) of Cranberry Township, one brother, William Charles Klindienst (Lisa) of Slippery Rock, one sister-in-law, Mary Jo of Virginia, two brothers-in-law, Christopher Chaffee and Scott Chaffee, and one niece and three nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dwane Klindienst.
Tammy was the “glue that held her family together” in many ways. Family was very near and dear to her heart. She loved to read and especially enjoyed American Literature. Tammy was a cat lover and always had a cat as a pet during her adult life.
A Time of Remembering will be held at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte from 4-5pm on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
