Phyllis M. Genua, 88, of Bellefonte, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2017 at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on May 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine (Pizzuta) Genua.
Phyllis worked for Bellefonte Area School District, where she later retired from.
She was survived by many nieces and nephews and a very loving, kind, and caring friend, Kimberly Stimer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Genua-Hazel, and five brothers, Ralph Genua, Raymond Genua, Bobby Genua, Frank Genua and Johnny Genua.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Phyllis loved her cat named “Porch Cat.” She enjoyed gardening and walking around town. All that knew her, heard her all the time saying “Don’t work yourself to death!” She loved all her family and friends. Phyllis had a heart to make donations to animal shelters and cancer societies.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 9-10am at St. John’s Catholic Church at 134 Bishop Street Bellefonte. Mass will be held at the church at 10am with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
