Dorothy “Dot” Kline Wetzler, 94, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Barbara Kline. On October 12, 1946, she married Malcolm Wetzler, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 5, 1997.
Dorothy was the first Drum Major for the Bellefonte Area High School band. After graduating from high school, she went to work for Cerro Copper and Brass where she was the secretary to the Works Manager, Grey Tressler. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Worthy Matron and District Deputy of Bellefonte Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #350, as well as their treasurer for twenty-two years. She was a past member of the State College Chapter Order #380, a life member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte and served as the church representative to the Bellefonte Area Council of Churches, a member of the Nittany Country Club, and a past member of Mount Nittany Hospital Auxiliary.
Dorothy was an avid bridge player and a volunteer for over twenty years at Centre County Hospital in Bellefonte and Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She is survived by one son, Frank Wetzler , and two grandchildren, Dylan Wetzler and his wife Sarah, and Alexis Wetzler, all of Bellefonte.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the funeral home at 11am with Pastor Diane Kinley officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
