Ruth L. Kelley, 84, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 with her family by her side, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born on January 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Eugene A. and Elizabeth M. (Gehret) Stine. She was married to Ralph W. Kelley, of Bellefonte, on January 25, 1952, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2015.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She worked as a clerk at Hallmark in the Nittany Mall for 30+ years. She was a homemaker and loved to collect Precious Moments. She especially enjoyed RV camping with family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Cheryl Lane (Park) of Bellefonte, and Danny Kelley (Vonda) of Howard, five grandchildren: Jacie Fisher (Rodney) of MI, Kelly Fisher (Craig Zoppa) of PA, Lori Jean (Kempes) of MD, David Lucas of PA, and Joshua Lucas (Sheena) of PA, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Fisher, and two brothers, Jonas Stine and Willian (Buck) Stine.
She was of Methodist Faith. She volunteered for the Civil Air Patrol Search & Rescue as a radio operator for over 30 years and reached the rank of Captain.
A Celebration of Life will be head on July 27, 2017 at 6pm at Governor’s Park in Bellefonte at Pavilion #1.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre Crest Ladies Auxiliary at 502 E. Howard Street Bellefonte, PA 16823.
A special thank you to the nurses and aids at Centre Crest who cared for our mom and called her “Mama Ruth.”
