Obituary for Colin McAtee

Colin G. McAtee, 35, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Largo, Florida. Born on June 9, 1982 at Centre Community Hospital, he was the son of Michael and Deborah McAtee, of Bellefonte.

He was employed by Centre County Housing Authority and Home Delivery Pizza. A music lover, he was the bass guitar player for heavy metal band “It Is Written.” He enjoyed performing, recording music, and helping others.

While overcoming his own obstacles, he inspired others to overcome their own, and to care and love.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Deb McAtee, of Bellefonte, sister Cody Nye (Nate) nephew Lucas, niece Logan, of Abington, PA, grandmother Joyce McAtee and aunt Suzie Dove, Bellefonte, uncle Rock Ray of Bellefonte and uncle Samuel Ray (Treva) of Tyrone, soul mate Lindsey and her daughter, Riley, of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel and Louise Ray, and Richard McAtee, and aunt Donna Musser.

Colin was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers fan. He enjoyed attending “Bucs & Pucs” in Howard, PA

Colin will be deeply missed by those who loved him including best friends: Mike and Alicia Brooks and their children, Brooke, Evelyn, and Atticus, Ryan and Keary Confer; band brothers: Darl Johnstonbaugh and Ken Hawkins, and friends and musicians across the USA.

A public visitation will be held at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte, on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 7-9pm and Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9-11am, also at the funeral home, with Father George I. Jakopac officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
