Obituary for Betty Lutchko

Betty Ann Lutchko, 76, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1940 to the late Gust and Edna (Atkins) Holden. On November 5, 1960, in Winchester, Virginia, she married Charles W. Lutchko, who survives at home.

She was a 1958 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School. Betty had also attended high school in Presque Isle Maine; where she participated in the Marching Band. This experience provided her with a lifelong affinity for the New England states. Betty retired from the vision center at Wal-Mart; a position that she loved due to her love of people.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Amy Lutchko (Bill) of Westland, MI and Mindy Terpak (Patrick) of Zion; two grandchildren, Matt Burd (Ashley), Novi, MI and Brooke Williams, Hubert, NC, along with several nieces and nephews, a brother, Robert, survives in Houtzdale, aunt, Jean Hutchinson of Houtzdale, uncle, Jim Atkins of New York, brother-in-law, Henry Lutchko and sister-in-law, Colleen Lutchko both of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are her three grand dogs, Gracie, Talley and Rocket.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by son Jeffrey Lynn Lutchko, sisters Joan Helmrich and Peggy "Toots" Scavatto and brother Gus Holden.

Betty was a warm and kind person who greeted everyone with a "Hey kiddo!". She volunteered her time with the OLLI program and enjoyed the friendships that she had made in doing so. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers; a love that she has passed on to her daughters. She was a voracious reader with particular interest in Indian Artifacts. She and Chuck enjoyed going on artifact digs and exploring new areas in doing so. She had a quick wit and loved to laugh; and you couldn't help but to laugh with her. She loved music and was a pretty darn good dancer!

Because of her love of animals and children; donations can be made to: PAWS, 1401 Trout Rd., State College, PA 16801 or St. John's Catholic School, 134 East Bishop St., Bellefonte, PA 16823 in lieu of flowers.

Friends will be received on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
